Command Master Chief (AW/SW) Juan D. Landin is a native of San Bernardino, California. He enlisted in the United States Navy on January 22, 1998. Upon completion of Basic Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Fireman Apprentice School, also in Great Lakes.
His follow-on training includes Navy Recruiting Orientation/Recruiting Canvasser (ENRO), Anti-Terrorism Training Supervisor, and Navy Instructor Training.
His duty assignments include USS Fletcher (DD-992) from May 1998 to December 2001, where he converted to the rate of Ship’s Serviceman; Navy Recruiting District San Francisco, California, from March 2002 to March 2005, where he served as Enlisted recruiter; USS New Orleans (LPD 18, plank owner) from April 2005 to September 2008, where he served as Records Keeper S3 Division; USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) October 2008 to September 2012, where he was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2011; USS America (LHA 6, plank owner) October 2012 to April 2016, where he was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2014.
Senior Chief Landin reported onboard Afloat Training Group, San Diego, where he served as Leading Chief Petty Officer/Training Team Lead for N411A3, where he was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in 2018.
His first tour as Command Senior Chief was to Co-operative Security Comalapa, El Salvador, where he was selected as Command Master Chief. He is currently assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 133 “Wizards,” Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA as the Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Landin earned his Associates of Arts degree from Central Texas College and is a graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 208 Gray) in September 2017.
Master Chief Landin’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 Awards), and various other unit and campaign awards. He is a qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, and Afloat Training Specialist.
