Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) selected Aviation Support Equipmentman (AS) 1st Class Kurt Stoddard as its 2020 Senior Sailor of the Quarter (SSOQ), Third Quarter.

Stoddard is the Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) Maintenance Production Control leading petty officer (LPO), and oversees the work of more than 630 Sailors.

He attributes his SSOQ recognition to his work ethic and leadership.

"I'm thankful to my chain of command and proud of the accomplishment," he said.

Stoddard, a native of Discovery Bay, Calif., reported to FRCSW in 2017 from the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD-2) where he served as the ships production controller and also recognized with SSOQ honors.

The 31-year-old Sailor enlisted in the Navy in 2006 in San Francisco, Calif., and intends to make the service his career.

"I joined the Navy to travel and start a career, and I like the challenges," he said.

His advice to younger Sailors is to establish a solid work ethic, continue to learn new things and share your knowledge with those who are your relief.

An ASE-certified mechanic, Stoddard spends his free time restoring classic cars.

He will transfer to FRC Northwest in November.
