Fleet Readiness Center Southwest hosts Principal Military Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition) VADM Scott Pappano, September 5, 2024. VADM Pappano received an FRCSW and Commander, Fleet Readiness Center overview brief, and specific information about the command’s infrastructure investments which were designed to establish the command capabilities for the Navy and Marine Corps next generation aircraft.
Established in 1919 on Naval Air Station North Island, Calif., FRCSW is the first aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in the Department of Defense. This makes the command the birthplace of naval aviation maintenance which provides world-class support to the Navy and Marine Corps tactical, logistical and rotary wing aircraft and their components, by utilizing state-of-the-art management systems. In order to provide maintenance excellence where it’s most needed, FRCSW maintains field sites in California at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, MC Air Station Miramar, Naval Air Station Lemoore, NAS China Lake; and other sites in NAS Fallon, Nev.; NAS Whidbey Island, Wash.; Air Force Base Cannon, N. Mex.; NAS Fort Worth, Tex.; NAS Key West, Fla.; MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii as well as in Okinawa and Iwakuni, Japan.
