Massey and Boxell, along with NAVAIR materials engineer Rob Thompson, won the award for their work with the Diffuse Reflectance Infared Fourier Transform (DRIFT) portable spectrometer, a Non-destructive Inspection (NDI) tool that detects chemical changes to composite materials that have been exposed to excessive heat.
